Apple's iPad, Motorola's Xoom, Acer's Iconia. The list goes on. Are you tired of all the tablet talk? Are you familiar with tablet PCs? Asus has the latest Windows-based tablet. We go over its features and show how it compares to more familiar tablets...
...Asus can sit comfortably knowing it has next to no competition from other tablet PCs. As we all know, though, it's rare to be the only game in town when you're talking about technology that people want. Either someone else will choose to build a better model, or the form factor will continue sliding into obscurity. Tablets and notebooks have made tablet PCs an endangered species. Only time will tell if Asus can help them circumvent extinction.

We've had reservations about Windows 7 as a touch OS ever since Microsoft announced it; however, the Eee Slate EP121 goes some way to alleviating those. It'll likely take Windows 8 to go all the way, and by then, it may be too late. Until then, the Eee Slate EP121 is the best Windows tablet you can get.
It may be like a sighting of the Loch Ness Monster (or at least the Jersey Devil), but we might have finally found that elusive Windows touchscreen tablet that doesn't make us want to run screaming back to a traditional clamshell notebook. ...
Asus has a fresh take on the oft-maligned Windows tablet in the fast-running Eee Slate EP121, a touch-screen slate coupled with its own Bluetooth keyboard.
As the tablet wars rage on, the iPad 2 is still one of the slickest tablet experiences around, while Windows 7 is generally regarded as the worst. That's hardly surprising, since Microsoft's OS wasn't primarily designed for either tablets or touch. Unfortunately, sub-par implementations on Windows tablets like the Acer Iconia Tab and MSI WindPad 100W didn't do it any favours. However, since Asus has produced one of the best Android tablets available today with its award-winning Eee Pad Transformer, we have high hopes for its Eee Slate EP121.
Asus' Eee Slate EP121 is a unique Windows tablet that has a lot going for it. A beautiful 12.1in IPS screen offers both capacitive and pen touch-sensing with the included Wacom stylus, making it an intriguing artist's and designer's tool. Powerful internals ensure Windows 7 rarely feels less than smooth, while comprehensive connectivity and surprisingly good speakers are the icing on the cake. However, dreadful battery life and its incredibly high price limit the Slate's appeal to a niche audience of well-heeled, productivity-oriented individuals who don't need to stray too far from a power outlet.

While there were several Windows tablets promised at CES this year, the only one we've seen to date has been Hanvon's BC10, a 10.1-inch tablet that felt like it lacked a bit of polish.

The Asus Eee Slate EP121 is not designed to take on the iPad. It’s important to get that out of the way immediately, because it’s an unfair comparison made by pretty much everyone we've shown it to. This Windows 7 tablet is aimed far more at professionals than those looking for their daily hit of Angry Birds...
Not without flaws, but as a professional tablet suited to graphical work it has a certain appeal
Tablets are currently being sold like hotcakes. Apple has revived an almost forgotten sector with its iPad and has developed a product that many thought impossible at the time. The iPad 2 has now been available for a few days and has caused big crowds in some places. While many manufacturers attempt to catch up to the best of the class, Apple can lay back and relax due to the incredibly high demand. The completion is partly going different ways in order to still get a piece of the cake. Everything can be found, starting with cheap products up to iPad imitations. ...
Asus has designed a great device with the Eee Slate. Operating system, display and connectivity open many possibilities. It's even imaginable to occasionally use the tablet PC as a desktop replacement. In any case, the system performance is sufficient for many tasks and outshines everything that other tablets currently have to offer. Windows 7 can be used very efficiently, FullHD videos are rendered smoothly and even gaming is possible with restrictions. ...
Hochleistungs-Tablet.
Its giant screen measures 12.1 inches diagonally, which makes the Slate the largest tablet we've seen. The specs are equally impressive: it's powered by a dual-core Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, with 4GB of RAM. On top of the 32GB or 64GB of solid-state storage, you can add more memory by slipping in an SD card.
The 12.1-inch Asus Eee Slate EP121 is a feature-packed behemoth of a tablet. But using it will probably give you arm ache, and its battery life is nothing to boast about.
Asus has launched a full blown Windows 7 PC that also just so happens to be a tablet, but can that tablet perform? We tracked it down at Asus' stand at CES to find out. ...
Think of the Asus Eee Slate EP121 as a computer without a keyboard rather than a tablet device akin to the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Apple iPad
