The Fujifilm Finepix JZ500 sits firmly in the affordable section of the compact camera market. This is not to say it doesn't offer a full specification - a 10x optical zoom, covering 28-280mm in conventional 35mm terms, is paired with a 14.1MP sensor. A 2.7in, 230k-dot LCD screen also features, as does an ISO range of 100-1600, extendable to 3200 in reduced MP mode.
On the face of it, the Fujifilm Finepix JZ500 performs ok for a camera of that price level. However, the market is constantly developing with better cameras available at lower prices. With this in mind, it really is difficult to be considerate towards the flaws in the JZ500, such as sluggish performance and poor image quality, and for that reason it disappoints.
Einfache Automatikkamera mit relativ großem Zoombereich.
The Fujifilm FinePix JZ500 ($250) is the most pocketable pocket megazoom in our latest test group, thanks to a curvy one-inch-deep body that's significantly slimmer than any of the other cameras we reviewed. Unfortunately, its performance was also comparatively anemic. Its shortcomings aren't entirely surprising: This model is Fujifilm's bargain pocket megazoom for 2010, playing second string to the higher-end FinePix F80EXR. ...
The JZ500 is an also-ran among the big players in the pocket megazoom class, but it has a bigger, more-powerful sibling. For Fujifilm fans pining for a pocket megazoom, we suggest holding out for the FinePix F80EXR, which boasts the company's higher-end EXR sensor along with a 10X-optical-zoom lens.

The Fujifilm FinePix JZ500 is an extremely pocketable pocket megazoom digital camera, thanks to a curvy 1-inch-deep body that's significantly slimmer than any of the other cameras we reviewed.
More pocket-friendly than other compact megazooms, Fujifilm's FinePix JZ500 doesn't have the features or the performance to match higher-priced competitors.

Bildqualität (45%): 71 Pkt.; Ausstattung/Handling (40%): 63 Pkt.; Geschwindigkeit (15%): 51 Pkt.
The JZ500 is a sleek shooter packed with a 10x optical zoom lens and sensor shift image stabilizer system. Although this 14-megapixel compact belongs to the entry-level JZ family, its image quality and performance are on par with other brands' midrange snappers. That said, we have minor gripes with this FinePix, though they are pretty insignificant compared with the camera's plus points.
The JZ500 is suitable for users who want a capable point-and-shoot that delivers quality snaps.
Die Fujifilm FinePix JZ500 bietet eine umfangreiche Ausstattung und viel Zoom für wenig Geld. Bei der Bildqualität kann uns die Kompaktkamera allerdings nicht vollends überzeugen.
Fujifilm offers very good value with the compact superzoom FinePix JZ500, though you'll have to be a little forgiving of its photos.
The Fujifilm FinePix JZ500 is a serviceable compact superzoom. The lens specs make it flexible for a variety of shots and the compact body means you won't hesitate to take it with you. Shooting performance is very good for a compact megazoom, too. However, if you're after superb photo quality, you'll probably be let down. It's not that the photos are bad; they aren't. But the lack of sharpness even at its lowest ISO settings is disappointing. Then again, its lens, size and price might be enough for you to overlook its shortcomings.
